Wellgate Care, the provider of high-end residential care services to young people and adults with special needs, has acquired Folkstone-based MNP Complete Care Group. The purchase, which will see it cement its plans to expand its network of purpose-built and adapted homes across the South East, will deliver major improvements for residents whilst retaining the current outstanding care.
MNP Complete Care, which runs four specialist care homes in Kent for adults with learning and physical disabilities, will retain its brand whilst becoming part of the Wellgate Care Group. All 120 MNP staff join the new business with a recruitment drive now underway to support the growth of the group and build on the excellent standards of care and support provided by the existing, long-serving team. Wellgate Care has already recruited Debbie Smith, who has more than 20 years’ experience in the sector, as Director of Care and Andy Denness as Compliance Director, to help lead the growth.
Established 35 years ago, MNP is an independent provider of professional care with a strong reputation for providing affordable, high quality care from a range of residential settings adapted for individuals with very bespoke care needs. Its homes include Sandgate Manor, set in woodland grounds and featuring self-contained cedar lodges for disabled adults ready to develop independent living skills.
The acquisition is backed by Civitas Social Housing PLC, the first real estate investment trust dedicated to investing exclusively in portfolios of social homes in England and Wales.
Wellgate Care now plans to enhance and upgrade facilities for residents and staff which will include undertaking physical improvements in the homes. The team will work closely with referrers and local authorities to ensure it continues to offer high-end care in the local community.
Simon Hill, Wellgate Care Founder, said: “It’s an important time for Wellgate Care and for everyone connected to our care homes, as we continue to build our offering to meet the evolving needs of local authorities and residents alike. We are looking forward to working closely with the MNP team and commissioning bodies in the area to continue to deliver the very best care packages for our residents and their families.”
Jack Eldridge, Managing Director of Wellgate Care added: “We’re pleased to be acquiring MNP, which has provided an excellent standard of high-quality care to residents in Kent for more than 35 years and has a well-established reputation in the local community. Our primary objective is to continue to provide the best standard of specialist care for all our residents, tailored to their individual needs.
“Central to this are the dedicated staff who will continue to play an essential role in maintaining the quality care for all residents across the four homes. Through a mix of new technology and enhanced training programmes we are aiming to modernise the group and further improve the standard of care offered. We will also be looking to invest in a range of purpose-built or adapted accommodation to ensure independence for residents.”
