Sandgate Manor is a beautiful detached 19 bedroomed former Manor House set in its own undulating woodland grounds. It provides a tranquil and enchanting setting for our physically disabled residents who are in the younger adult age range. Sandgate Manor has been tastefully transformed into a well-equipped residential care home whilst maintaining the period features of an early 20th century private home. The residents and staff enjoy living and working in this comfortable and relaxed environment.

The main entrance leads into a large spacious reception area revealing a beautiful elegant staircase. This area is a permanent hive of activity and is a popular haunt for our residents to meet and interact. In the adjoining small hallway, a passenger lift is available to provide wheelchair access to the first floor. We also have a stair lift available for more able residents. The house has been fully adapted to be wheelchair accessible for all.

To the right of the entrance hall is our main residents lounge area, a large spacious living room with an abundance of natural light. French doors lead to the patio and gazebo on the right hand side of the garden. This lounge is a very pleasant room and becomes a central hub for TV watching, people-watching, video and karaoke and is a natural place for social gatherings. The dining area within this room provides space to eat and drink and the tables can be utilised for board games, arts and crafts or beauty therapies.

To the left of the entrance hall is our second lounge which is also used as a dining area. This is the quieter of the two lounges where residents can watch TV or just sit and chat. This room overlooks the driveway allowing a good view point to see the interesting comings and goings of the house and beautiful grounds.

All bedrooms in the house are decorated and furnished with the individual resident in mind. We encourage residents to choose their colour schemes and carpets. The rooms vary in size, character and outlook, but all are light and airy with views over the gardens. All rooms have TV points.

All bathrooms have ample space for residents in their wheelchairs to be hoisted on to equipment with the support of care staff.

Sandgate Manor has a team of approximately 60 staff, all trained to the highest standard. Our own maintenance and gardening team ensures that Sandgate Manor is kept in a good state of repair, tastefully decorated, with well-maintained grounds.

We have a modern spacious kitchen where our cooks prepare a wonderful choice of wholesome daily meals. All meals are freshly prepared, to a high nutritional standard and menus vary from day to day so our residents can enjoy a well balanced mix of flavours and tastes. We also cater for special dietary needs.

Whilst we use the services of a commercial laundry unit, Sandgate Manor also has its own on-site laundry facilities staffed by a member of our housekeeping team who undertakes the washing, drying and ironing of residents personal items.

Our woodland grounds are pleasantly shaded by an area of mature trees. This natural conservation area is an ideal habitat for wildlife, including resident squirrels, foxes and visiting badgers.

Sandgate Manor Care Home rear garden

The sides and rear of the house have mainly been laid to lawn. We have a residents salad patch conveniently positioned next to the well-used barbecue area which comes into its own during the summer months. Residents' families and friends are always welcome to join these social occasions. The grounds are wheelchair friendly, with pathways leading from the car parking area at the front of the house to the side and rear gardens. Benches are set on the footpath down to the enclosed gardens at the rear. Well-stocked flower borders and garden tubs surround the outside of the house with our colourful displays of flowers.

The vehicle entrance to Sandgate Manor is secured with an electronic barrier to ensure vehicle speed is kept to a minimum near the house.

We also have three Woodland Lodges in the grounds which offer individual living accommodation for residents who are able to live in a semi- independent environment.

Short-term respite care can be provided subject to availability.

Our high staffing ratios enable us to respond to all our residents needs 24 hours a day.

Our own maintenance team ensures that Sandgate Manor avoids any major emergency or breakdown inconvenience. We undergo regular checks and carry out routine maintenance to all equipment and materials in accordance with the Health and Safety Executive.
